Flowers in Mason Jars

This is one of the new level one hostess sets from the current Stampin' Up catalog. It's completely darling!

Ink: Black, Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum, Soft Plum, Dusty Durango, Not Quite Navy, Bermuda Bay, Soft Suede

Splitcoast Stampers September WICKED Challenge

I did this for the September WICKED color challenge on Splitcoast Stampers. I guess that I'm not very patriotic because I don't seem to use red, white and blue too much! I also figured that I'd use Just Beclause, since I'd mistakenly ordered it from the mini. I'm glad that I did, though, because it's ultra-cute!

I layered Rose Red, Night of Navy, Brocade Blue and White. I color embossed with the Textured Impressions Petals-a-Plenty folder with Brocade Blue, then die-cut it with the Top Note.
Stamps: Just Beclause

Paper: Rose Red, Night of Navy, Brocade Blue, White

Ink: Brocade Blue, Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Rose Red, Bravo Burgundy, Blush Blossom, Pretty in Pink, More Mustard, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Handsome Hunter, Sahara Sand

Accessories: Big Shot, Textured Impressions Petals-a-Plenty folder, ticket-corner punch, brads and oval frame from antique pewter HPH, 1" stitched Rose Red grosgrain, white taffeta ribbon, navy 1/4" grosgrain, dimensionals, aquapainter

The first time out of the box!

I've had this set for a year, but hadn't ever been inspired to use it. What was I waiting for? I love this set! After multiple starts and color combinations, this is the final result.

I layered Always Artichoke, Ruby Red, Chocolate Chip and Vanilla cs. The Chocolate Chip laters are stamped with Antique Background in CC. The main image is watercolored, then sponged in Close to Cocoa and Chocolate Chip, then overstamped with Canvas in Sahara Sand and the spatter from Itty Bitty Backgrounds in Soft Suede and Sahara Sand.

The tab is also overstamped with Canvas in Sahara Sand. I took the floral garland from the "Best Wishes" stamp from Oval All to add interest to the bottom of the tab.

Stamps: Music Expressions, Oval All, Canvas, Antique Backgrounds, Fancy Flexible Phrases

Paper: Always Artichoke, Ruby Red, Vanilla, Chocolate Chip

Ink: Black, Sahara Sand, Pretty in Pink, Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Not Quite Navy, Bashful Blue, Summer Sun, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Soft Suede, Dusty Durango , More Mustard

Accessories: Brad and buckle from Antique Brass HPH, RHR taffeta ribbon, round tab punch, spiral punch, eyelet edge punch, sponges, aquapainter

Sculptured Rose

I've been wanting to cut apart this rose and layer it together, but haven't had time this summer. I spent all day on Saturday playing with this set and had a GREAT time!

I stamped out two each of the large rose from Fifth Avenue Floral onto both Pretty in Pink and Pink Pirouette cs using Versamark and white detail ep. I played around with cutting out layers. The bottom layer of the rose is Pretty in Pink, the middle later is cut from one of the Pink Pirouette roses. The "center" of the rose is Pretty in Pink again. I cut two separate petals out, mounted them on dimensionals and raised them up over the rest of the flower. All layers/petals are sponged with either Pink Pirouette or Pretty in Pink, depending on the base color of the cs. I then took an aquapainter and put deeper shadows on the petals where I wanted more depth. It's really very pretty IRL.

I ran Gable Green and Melon Mambo cs through the Big Shot using my favorite Top Note die, cutting out 3 of the Gable Green and one of Melon Mambo. One of the GG Top Notes, I trimmed at the dotted line and stamped with By Definition and sponged the edges with Gable Green. That layer is mounted on the Melon Mambo layer, then over the last two Gable Green layers.

The sentiment was inked using Melon Mambo and Green Galore markers. The corners are highlighted with pink rhinestone brads.

Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral, By Definition

Paper: Melon Mambo, Gable Green, Pretty in Pink, Pink Pirouette

Ink: Versamark, Melon Mambo, Green Galore, Gable Green, Pretty in Pink, Pink Pirouette

Accessories: Rhinestone brads, sponges, Melon Mambo polka-dot ribbon, aquapainter, dimensionals, buckle from HPH, white detail ep, Top Note die, Big Shot

Sunday afternoon's project

This didn't turn out quite like I wanted.  I wish that I could capture how pretty the textured white cs looks!

I layered Old Olive, Riding Hood Red, Certainly Celery, White and a sheet from the Riding Hood Red Paper Patterns ds. The white layer was run through the BS using the Small Dots Texturz plate -- the contrast is lovely IRL! The ribbons are layered and the RHR taffeta ribbon has a white rub-on from Lovely Lines.

The flower was cut apart, shaded with by sponging the edges and reassembled. A white gel pen was used to highlight the lines between the layers. The center of the flower was created with beads and the white dots on both the flower and the leaves were highlighted with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

Today's vintage offering...

This came out a little darker than I wanted, but sometimes you just have to go with how the juices flow on a particular day. I'm almost thinking that there is too much texture on this card -- almost!  I always forget how nice Craft inks look on Kraft paper -- it's one of my favorite looks.

I layered Kraft, Bravo Burgundy and Pink Pirouette. The main Kraft layer is stamped with Print Pattern and Weathered in BB craft ink and the edges sponged in BB classic.

The Pink Pirouette layer is stamped with En Francais in Bravo Burgundy craft, Canvas in Sahara Sand and the spatter from Itty Bitty Backgrounds in Bravo Burgundy and Sahara Sand classic. The corners are punched with the ticket corner punch and the edges sponged with BB classic.

The central image is stamped in Bravo Burgundy classic ink and lightly watercolored in Pretty in Pink. It was then overstamped with Canvas in Sahara Sand and the spatter from Itty Bitty Backgrounds in Pretty in Pink, Bravo Burgundy and Sahara Sand. The edges are sponged with Bravo Burgundy.

The Kraft "frame" behind the central image is stamped with Filigree in Bravo Burgundy and also sponged around the edges with BB.

The ribbon is whomped together by layering Pink Pirouette taffeta ribbon over a Sahara Sand ribbon from the Beachfront Ribbon Originals. Behind the Beachfront ribbon, two strips of Burgundy 1/4" grosgrain were attached top and bottom to make it look like one solid layer of burgundy ribbon. This came out a little darker than I wanted, but sometimes you just have to go with how the juices flow on a particular day. It this what I've been trying to get to all day? Who knows?

This may be the card I've been trying to work out all day -- maybe.  I've got two sets of neighbors who have both just had new baby girls.  I'm going to try something more vintage tomorrow with Buggies & Booties -- stay tuned!

Stamps: Pun Fun

Paper: Certainly Celery, Lovely Lilac, White, Tea Party ds

Ink: Black, Certainly Celery, Always Artichoke, Almost Amethyst, Lovely Lilac, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose

Accessories: Brads, violet 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, Fairy Tale ribbon originals, slide from Styled Silver HPH, aquapainter, dimensionals

Techniques: watercolor

I tried to fancy this up, but I kept hitting a wall.  I haven't stamped in awhile, so maybe I'm just really, really rusty!  I started out trying to make a baby card for some neighbors, but I ended up with this!  It's pretty enough, but not what I was looking for.

I layered Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and a sheet from the Tea Party ds. The faux brads were made by using a 1/8" punch on Bermuda Bay cs.  The scalloped rectangles were cut by using Nestabilities with my Big Shot.

Stamps: Razzle Dazzle

Paper: Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, Tea Party ds

Ink: Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, Regal Rose markers

Accessories: Ticket corner punch, 1/8" punch, Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay polka-dot ribbons, dimensionals, sponges, Big Shot and Nestabilites scallop rectangle dies
